When did you start volunteering at Oliver & Friends?

April 2018

What is your favorite thing about volunteering at Oliver & Friends?

Aside from interaction with the animals, contributing to such an amazing mission is so uplifting. I feel I get much more out of it than I give.

Who is your favorite resident on the farm?

This is really hard to answer, because I love them all… but I guess EmmyMoo. She arrived a little before I started volunteering, and she is so sweet and trusting. I loved how she sucked on my fingers, but now I love her vocal, bossy self!!! She makes me feel needed and appreciated.

What is one thing you wish people understood about farm rescue?

There is so much involved in saving and caring for animals!!! There are constant veterinary appointments, phone calls, social media posts, retrieving new rescues from all over (with minimal to zero notice), transporting babies to their forever homes, building and maintaining enclosures, buying feed, planning and hosting events… Oh, and then there is feeding, watering, and loving on the animals. That isn’t even a fully inclusive list, just the top priorities. We have to make difficult decisions sometimes, on top of wondering how we will afford to care for the animals.

If you could be one resident for a day, who would it be and why?

Trooper! I’m so thankful he was saved from his horrific circumstances, and that he is still so loving! I love how he raises and loves all the “Imothys” too! I can only hope to have that type of love, trust and compassion.
